March Hatch-Along Thread- Come Hatch With Us!!!!!

Aww thanks guys!!! I love it whenever I can do something nice for someone and Pug would REALLY be helping me out too! I truly want to get some experience at shipping before I just go charging people for eggs on Ebay or whatever without having ever done it ya know? I KNOW how it is to spend money on eggs, and have them arrive packed as if the seller just didn't care how they got there or even IF they got there. The all mighty dollar does NOT dictate my life or my decisions the way it does some. Now, some sellers do their very best and it still doesn't work out, but that's just the risk with shipped eggs. I'm the type of person though that if the buyer had a bad hatch, it would probably bother me MORE than it does them! haha! I would HAVE TO make it right!

I love the lavender color too Pug and like you, hadn't really seen it in Calls. It's an exciting project for sure and so far, I'm really happy with the progress. I sent you a PM about the eggs and such...just let me know how you want to go about this. I'm super excited to see you hatch some Call ducks!

So I have some pictures:

This is the best picture I could get of the little guy's navel. It is kind of black with a bit of white on it.

I caught her preening herself!!

My two other cuties. It is day 22 now, and I don't have any more pips, but I am going to leave the eggs in there longer. :) I am quite happy with three chicks though. Four would be FANTASTIC! :D

I have a quick question. My friend has some hatching eggs from large fowl hens but the cockerel is a bantam. What size will the chicks be? In between the two? Or will the chicks be either large fowl or bantam size?

Oh Well,I'll try again later.
Have posted pic's before and now nothing I try is working........
Temp had dropped to 95 in the hatcher this morning.humidity held........
Not going to freak.pretty much believe if they are going to hatch.they will

I feel sad about the thoughts on Seramas.I breed them and have just not experienced any problems
that I have not had with other breeds............and they are sooooo sweet. And they are hardy. When not using to breed, mine live with my LF
without a problem. I have three Serama roos that moved into my English Orp coop.thier decision not mine...and they do great.
It is very funny. At night you cannot find the Serama because they tuck themselves in between the hens....... (smart Roo's

)

Wishing everyone great luck with hatching........
And special thoughts for those that have had losses or problems..........

If its the whole leg you will have t o put a brace on it noth witin 3 dayor they say it doesnt work to put it on after ...or put baby in a chick chair Someone has a pic of one maybe SallySunshine?

I had one that a few days ago.Lump sort of pink tan lump not the vent more belly button area turned black-brown got hard and i guess it fell off b/c it looks normal now .It always did ACT normal

So I sent our teenage son out to the coop yesterday afternoon to collect the blue egg that I knew should have been out there. I told him to go get the eggs, but give me the blue one because I'm going to set it in the incubator the next day (today!) and I wanted to store it. Oh my word, he dropped it!! Of all the eggs he collected, he dropped that one! I saw him drop something, then pick it up and chuck it into the field!

I opened up the back door & shouted at him... "Did you just drop my blue egg?!" He shouted back... "Um, Maybe!". UGH. So, I'm sitting here hoping that our other EE hen lays this morning. It's the last egg I wanted for this hatch set. The incubator holds 7 eggs. I wanted 3 barred rock, and 4 EE's. I had the timing planned out well... but it's my fault as I forgot to factor in "teenager" to my calculations. LOL. All well. If I don't get another EE... I have lots of other eggs I can put in there.

I have my incubator all cleaned and running to stabilize the temp & humidity. I will be setting soon!!!

Did you look at the video someone put on Paypal egg swap on how to package shipped eggs?
You wont BELIEVE it this guy throws his box of eggs up in the air 10 ft drops on concrete 8 times and then rolls it across the concrete Not one egg broke!!!
He wrapped each in bubble wrap stands it on end all together with the styrofoam peanuts around the eggs all sides . Trick is to wrap the egg with about 2 inches or 1 1/2 of bubble wrap sticking out on each end.like a tube so that sticking out part cushions the eggs then the peanuts all sides.I was amazed and he used just one box too!Iwiltry and find it andpost here if icsanfind it. WAs about 4 or 5 days ago and that thread moves really fast..

I don't know if my chick is acting normal because he is all alone in a plastic container and his fluff is still wet from the polysporin on the bottom of the paper towel. He might not be alone in the incubator for long, because I think I see another pip!!!
