Mine are set! :) Yippee!

I waiting all morning for another EE egg... but didn't get one. I did get another Barred Rock egg though, so I figured that will have to do. So instead of 3 BR & 4 EE, I set 4 BR and 3 EE. We needed to go to my son's bowling league, so I set them about 10:30. When we got back at 12:30 we found an egg from our EE hen! She was a bit too late... but I don't care, I squeezed it in the incubator. It's a little muddy since the snow is melting today, but all well. So it was set just a couple hours after the first 7.

I'll have to hand turn them for a while. That's ok.

Cool! Good luck! I can't wait for my chickies to start laying. My Hope is about three months now! Not too long yet! She will lay large jumbo white eggs! She is half white leghorn half production red.

Good Morning,
The first thing I did while having my first cup of coffee.....
Was have a good laugh at how many pages I needed to catch up on.
Good Grief, this is a busy, busy thread.
It is nice that everyone takes the time to keep us updated...

I was up at 4:30.checked the bator and everything was fine...100 temp.,67 huminity.
Went back to sleep...At 7:00 temp 95 humidity55.Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
This is for my three in lockdown.

I don't know what to think.guess I should know tomorrow if they were affected by the change.

Do not have time for comments right now but wishing everyone well.
A big thenk you to the person trying to help me with my pictures..............

Well sad and happy news. Good news is Rose hatched at 4am and my subconscious mind woke me up just in time to watch her zip! Bad news is I'm pretty sure I've lost ALL of the cochins, and Si died last night after being pipped for 12+ hours. I looked at all of them, and Si I think had a defect. When I took him out he had a large air bubble on his neck, almost like he had an airleak inside his body somewhere. The cochins all ceased movement 24 hours ago. I did an eggtopsy on one and its head was facing downward and it had no room to move. When I did the other one I saw its aircell moving very slightly and saw a bit of bleeding so I wrapped it up and put it back. When I checked on it later it had passed and its shell was full of goop. Both of those chicks did not lose the required amount of weight before lockdown, so I expected problems. The last one looks still inside its shell, but I'll leave it just because.

Malcolm has pipped internally, and I pipped externally for him on accident because I thought he was dead too (no movement and really large aircell), or shrink-wrapped. He has a moist paper towel wrapped around him and is responding to sound so hopefully he'll make it out on his own.

The last 5 are due tomorrow, so we'll see what happens.

Aww, sorry your cochins & Si didn't make it. Holding out hope for Malcom & your others that are due tomorrow!

Well I just checked the sizzles, due tomorrow, and all are moving and a LOT of them are chillin' out in the air cells. The air cells are so huge they don't really have anywhere else to go! Haha.

Malcolm is still breathing, chillin' in his soggy egg burrito. I'll check him again when we get home and see if his veins have receded.

My hens just started laying! I put two of my own buff brahma eggs in the bator and 5 of my uncles barnyard mix eggs. Hopefully tomorrow I can transfer them into my homemade incubator if I get the temp. to even out. Due date is the 28th.

Should I remove Olive and Rose from the incubator? They are dry, and I have the next batch that's going to start pipping soon.

If your incubator has plenty of room then you could - if it's smaller than prob moving them would be best. When you do it put a blanket over the bator up to the edge where you would open- this will keep only the front open as you swipe them out quick. Then once shut, check your humidity - if it's more than a few % lower then what I do is blow hot air into the bator- O if someone were to walk in on me doing that!!!! "Why is your face mashed against the bator??? Are you kissing it??!?!?!?!" It works though!!!!

So sorry to all w/ quiters & no hatchers :( I actually had 4 quail in lockdown (couldn't ever see in them due to so many spots) & ended up opening the ends for fear that there were issues as most of my eggs always pip the morning after lockdown. one quit when it was just barely a tiny body :(

Congrats on the successes!!!
