March Hatch-Along Thread- Come Hatch With Us!!!!!

I hope it is wonderfully exciting! Photos?

I am so glad that others take the 21 days with a grain of salt rather than some kind of expiration date! Do you have any tips for taking good photos of chicks? I love your little silver chick that is your profile pic!
just got to be quick and move slowly that was a luck shot one it wasnt easy

I see a lot of people "talking" to their chicks to encourage hatching. Has anyone ever piped a repeating sound clip of a peeping chick into an incubator? Just curious.

Yup! I have been playing youtube videos of chicks peeping on my kindle fire layed on top the bator. The kindle fire HD has a great sound system!

i actually went to you tube and have about 7 video clips that I saved in my playlist. If chicks are taking their sweet old time about hatching I will either use my cell phone or notebook to play the playlist over and over.

That is so cool! I had never even thought about that

I am setting my first eggs this weekend! I just got my brinsea octa 20 advanced a few days ago and ordered my eggs last night, they should ship tomarrow and the next day.... I got 10 lavender/isabell silkie eggs and 12+ blue laced red wyandotte and lavender orpington eggs ... soooo excited! This will be my first incubator hatch and my first shipped eggs :)

any advice for me will be welcome

My advice... start expanding your coop... adding on more coops... and multiple run expansions, etc NOW.

You have an incubator. It causes "chicken math" to be an exponential problem. The only solution is add ons & expansions so you'd better hop to it. LOL.

Today is lockdown day for me. I have 10 SLW, and 7 of my Swedish Flower Hen eggs. I am going to lockdown two separate batches by breed. It's nervewracking to me when one breed hatches out completely and the other breed is slower. There's the issue of when to take out the earlier-hatched chicks, etc. Hopefully this will work out better. Downside: two messy bators to clean afterward.
