I have been so busy and sick and now the kids are on spring break! All 5 of them. Ahhhhhhh

Well I did get a new incubator. It holds 1300 eggs! Got 4 dozen in there right now. And my small incubator is full for the Easter hatch!
My daughter said mom you are out of retirement now and a full time chicken lady addict.. Lol

Igot some quail sat so going to build them a coop tomorrow. Been reading up on the nutrition of them and I am amazed. I have leukemia and have recently developed fibromyalgia so I am hoping these eggs will help me feel better.i am willing to try anything at this point.

A little off topic but wanted to share you are not alone with illness.............and the chickens save me from allowing myself to be controlled by thinking about my problems and pain.
They make me laugh, get up and move when I do not feel like it,and generally warm my heart................
Nothing perks me up like one of my pet hens wanting to be picked up and carried around or watching Mr. Roo care for his hens and chicks...........
Not to forget the great company we share here................

Quick question guys...egg 6 has been partially pipped since late Sunday or early Monday (forgot to write it down in all excitement) but not a visible hole, just a couple dents/cracks. No obvious progress throughout Monday or today and in fact I thought he had died...maybe pipped too low. Well just now I saw an actual hole all the way through the shell! Yea egg 6! So now I'm worried he's exhausted and has already used up all his energy. What do y'all think? Am I just flipping out? Any words of advice?

On the good news front, 5 have hatched, 1 other is moving.

I had 7 out of my 8 eggs that went into lock down make it. Here are a couple of the first that hatched..they went out the door today. Did this for a friend. I will post pictures of a couple of the others, different little cuties. One will be a light red NN..and the other is a silkie/NN mix. It has 5 toes, and feathered feet..so..showgirl. Here a couple of blue silkies for now.




I'm thinking this lighter one may be a splash. The mom was a blue splash.

I have 10 eggs saved so far shouldn't take me more than a few days to save enough to fill the incubator! I am going to set it up tonight and let it get consistent for the next few days! This will be my second hatch and I can't wait to see what I get this time!!!!!! Congrats to everyone for their new babies!!!!!

Thats great!! My last hatch i put 35 in the bator and 32 candled great at lockdown and i only got 18 chicks !! i really messed things up i think

BUT!!!!!! I put 36 more in the bator last night i hope for a better hatch this time!!

Would it hurt to do a quick candle? It's day 19. Yesterday I swore I heard chirping, but now nothing, not even a pip. I would like to see if the lethal gene Serama carry went into effect. I also feel like I should add some more water... The BMA just uses it and uses it like nobody's buissness.
