This is what I ended up doing. I think what happend was his wing got over his head. I think I need to chip down more. I hope he makes it... He's such a pretty color, from what I can see.

Looks great! That baby looks ready! Where is it's head? You can pull it's little head out and let it rest on something dry in the bator..like a pillow for it's head. Then, when it's strong enough, it will start moving around. The sticky membrane may stick to the chick when it tries to move around, if so, just peel that away.

In the first picture, you can kinda see his beak. If you look in the shell, you can see one of his eyes. How would I pull out his head without hurting him? His wing is covering a part of his head. I know he wants to live, he chirps at me, and tries to push out of the shell.

Just pull on his little beak slowly, see if it lifts a bit. Or, if you can chip more egg shell away from the neck area, no blood? Go ahead and chip down to where you can fit your finger under it's head. It really does look like there wasn't much blood when you removed the shell?

A third pip! This one is right way up. Aye-aye-aye... I had a "duh" moment and cracked a beer to help with the anxiety...

No blood at all. This guy is definitely ready to hatch. I'll go down a little so I can totally see his full head... Not just parts of it. Would that be okay?

Yes, you will be fine, especially if there was no blood at all..he must be tired..it's been all day hasn't it?

Yes. He would try to get out, but nothing would happen. I'm going to go chip away a little more right now so I can see his head. He was just trying to get out on his own a few minutes ago, but his wing was in the way. I'm going to go ahead and chip away so he can move his wing freely and hopefully that will hep.

Good work. That's pretty much what our assist looked like.

We uncovered about the same amount and damped the exposed membrane with warm wet finger, put it back in the incubator, a few minutes later it pushed free. Second biggest chick we now have!

Can't wait to see this little one..I've been watching for it all day. Guessing it will lay there for a while after it's out. May not even want to be up and walking for a while.
