March hatch along

Well I ended up candling last night. So much for waiting for my new flashlight! Out of the 24 eggs I started with, I had 1 stinker, 6 clears, and 1 blood ring. Of course almost all of the bad ones were from the batch of expensive eggs that I purchased. The super cheap eggs I bought are doing great. Go figure, lol.

So far I have 7. I only set 10 eggs total. It's a test batch. How many eggs did you set?
I originally set 40 and had 29 developing through day 10. I did not candle again and put all 29 into lockdown. 20 of my own eggs and 9 shipped BCM eggs. As of this morning 6 of my eggs pipped, 3 hatched, 2 recent pips and 1 died after zipping... Of the shipped eggs, only 1 pipped as of this morning and it hatched successfully. I am at work so have no idea if any others pipped or hatched... So far 4 hatched out of the original 40.

Hi,

How's everyone getting on? Day 21 yesterday for me and I have 5 fluffy chicks, 1 newborn, 1 pip and 6 eggs doing nothing. Do they hatch late sometimes?

I've read they can take up to 23 days to hatch! I would keep an eye on them and keep tabs on their progress, they may need assistance hatching if something goes wrong. Enjoy your babies!

Thank you, at what point do intervene? This pip is not progressing. Can it take a while? X

You can send @Lacrystol a private message and ask her. She's great at assisted hatching. She has a lot of experience with chickens and call ducks (which are notoriously hard to hatch). How long has it been since internal pip? I'll give you a link for waterfowl, but I imagine the timelines are shorter for chickens! But it should give you a good idea of process and what to lookout for.
