March hatch along

This is my first hatch. I'm on day 7. I had 10 AM, 4 EE, and 2 BR. I candled and tossed one blood ring and 2 clear. All eggs were shipped, so not bad, right? One egg looks way less developed. I thought it was clear but noticed veining on the second look. What's the chance this one will catch up?
Also, does anyone line their bator? I was thinking of putting something down to collect the mess and make clean up easier.

Sorry to hear that.

Yesterday was day 14 for me and when I opened up the incubator, I found that I had lost two more as well. One to a blood ring and the other one was a stinker/leaker. Now I'm down to 14 out of 24 eggs. This is the third hatch in a row I've had problems that I suspect are bacteria-related, even after disinfecting and scrubbing the incubator thoroughly before putting eggs inside it... I'm seriously considering switching to a plastic incubator at this point.

So sorry! I can only blame my lack of success on the post office, my bator is practically new, it's never hatched a chick so I can't say it's bacteria.

I would get a new incubator and use the old one as a hatcher only. That will help keep your incubating bator cleaner and save you some $$ since the plastic ones are a little pricey.

Dumb question: do I remove the eggs with blood rings? My gut says yes, but I'm afraid I'm wrong about them having blood rings. Will it hurt to leave them in as long as they don't get stinky?

Did a quick check on the three good eggs last night, looks like I'm down to two, the third wasn't moving.

My SLW bantam is still hanging in there, and one BLRW bantam, come on guys you can make it!

If you clearly see blood rings you can take them out... I cant remember what day you are on but if it is around 2 weeks you will clearly if they have developed. As for the one that wasnt moving, i wouldnt give up on it yet.

Well, I stayed up half the night watching TV and slept in late. Just went to check and I've got 3 pipped and lots and lots of chirping going on. I'm so excited!

One of the eggs is pipped in the middle. I'm going to watch it close, but I normally end up having to assist when they are breach. Luckily, it's against the side of the bator and shouldn't get rolled too bad when the others start moving around.
