March hatchalong (anyone want to join)

Hey Mayberrygirl!

More power to you, hatch away! I haven't had a double yoker on my hatch eggs but I would likely give it a try also, fully expecting neither to hatch but if it did then great.
I am not going to get into an argument or war of words with anyone over it either, as I do not feel the need to defend my choice.

Ok I will wait! Thank You! I am also concerned about handling the eggs. My boyfriend said that if we touch them we should be wearing gloves. Is this something anyone knows about? I would like to candle them to look for cracks, air sacs etc. Thoughts on this.

No, touching them will be fine. The only reason we are told not to touch eggs is that some birds will no longer set on their eggs if they smell human scent on them. Chickens are not know to do this, and it doesn't harm the egg (you should wash your hands before and after handling though). chickensinwasillaak - thank you, either the egg goes in the bator or an omelet anyway. I have family (that I have never met) that lives in Wasilla.

Here goes nothing! Just set my eggs in the incubator! Keeping my fingers crossed that i get some to hatch, seeing that this is my first time. Can anyone tell me how to read a wet bulb thermometer? I have a digital Celsius reading on the bator and my wet bulb reads a Fahrenheit temp!

Awesome! I just went and picked up 12 eggs from a local to add, I hope this doesn't ruin the whole batch! I had a dozen "easter eggers" that i ordered on ebay but they looked like regular eggs, nothing even a little colorful. The first set was put in at 845 this am and the new set was added at 315pm 6.5hrs later. I did a quick glance at them to ensure there weren't any cracks.
