) I will be setting 15 blue Ameraucana eggs and 12 Black Copper Marans eggs - Once those are done, I'll be setting some more Marans, Ameraucana, and some blue/black/splash Jersey Giants around March!

I certainly hope to see much better hatch rates with my new incubator and eggs from better chickens.

My last egg hatched sometime in the middle of the night. I ended up with three black and two blue Orpington chicks. I think I have two black roos and, one black and two blue hens. I set my second batch this morning at approx. 9:30am. So I think they should be hatching March 7th. I have 14 purchased silkie eggs and about 30 eggs from my flock including some more silkie eggs, more Orpington eggs and some mixes. I think this summer I'm going to sell my three RIR, give my 3 WR to my boyfriend for his meat bird project and just raise EE, orps, and silkies. After this batch is done I'm going to buy a dozen green egg layer eggs and a dozen blue eggs to add to my EE flock OR if some ome had a mix of blue and pink eggs that would be awesome... I think I may have a chicken problem.

I'm collecting eggs from my barnyard mix again this week and will set them Saturday or Sunday. My first hatch, which just ended, didn't go well. I ended up with 4 healthy babies, 1 baby that hatched and died due to intestinal prolapse, 1 that pipped into a vein and died and another that pipped internally and died; this was out of 22 eggs. However, we had a major snowstorm and lost power for 3 days during incubation (6 days before they were due), so I was kind of expecting it. At least I have my 4 healthy chicks - 2 white and 2 red - that are totally adorable!
