March Hatching Madness

So we are on day 19 with the duck eggs, I'm getting excited! We have 29 eggs going strong, well 28 at least. I think we have another quitter but since it's our first hatch I'm pretty happy with how things are going so far. Lockdown will be 3/4 and we are hoping to get us some cute fuzzy ducklings sometime around the 6th or 7th, yay!

Tattoo, if today is day 19, aren't you sposed to be in lockdown now or are ducks different than chickens?

correct! I don't have any muscovy's so my duck eggs will go into lockdown on day 25 which will be this coming thursday

I have 32 RIR eggs going in the bator in 1 1/2 hours but have one question first. I have two thermometers that are attached to squares of plastic and they read 101 and 99.5. I also have an electronic unit that reads temp and humidity. It reads 98.6 and 35%. I guess I can take a average of the three temps but the humidity is off and I have all the water channels filled in the bottom of the bator. The bator is a little giant with forced air and egg turner and has been running for the last day and a half. How do I get the humidity up to the 40% - 50%? or will it matter at this point and the eggs will bring it up. Thanks in advance, I am just starting to get nervous.

I just read that adding sponges will bring the humidity up so I added 4 sponges that measure 2" x 3" x 3/4".

Hopefully that will do the trick. 1 hour and 10 minutes to go time.

Can I join? I have I few eggs in the bator as a test hatch. I'm not really expecting a hatch,but it's always worth a try.

K I have a pip already on day 19, it's 1 of the buff- marans X. It's 2 early. This is going to be a long night....
