I just noticed yesterday that one of my Red sex links has an eye that is cloudy and has a small pupil. She’s completely fine otherwise- active, eating, laying, seems happy. I just happened to notice it. A friend was worried about Marek’s. What do you guys think? And if it is Marek’s, is my whole flock infected? What do I do with my 20 chicks and 10 hens? Thank you in advance!

Also forgot to mention the flock did have foul pox in November 2024 (as per my last post). Could it be from that?

It could be the ocular form of Mareks disease, but I also would wonder if the eye was injured and blinded. Mareks can cause a graying of the colored iris and an irregular small pupil. How long has it been like that? I am under the impression that the opposite eye would become the same eventually if it were Mareks.

Good point! My husband said he noticed it awhile ago (so days to months). The other eye is totally fine. She is fine also, no strange behaviors; plus she’s eating and laying.
