Hello,
I’m ESL

Her eye pupils seem deformed-. I don’t recall she have it. I have her for 4 years. Also- I just got other new mottled houdans. Their eye pupils are perfect circle, all react to light, pupils will sink into smaller. All my chickens acts fine for 9 years. They all vaccinated for marek. I only losing ayami chickens one by one for two years until I no longer have them. Several of my chickens have deformed pupils but not get smaller pupils, still look big and circle pupils. When I had flashlight aim to her eye, it’s not getting smaller or reaction to the light. My mottled houdan still following me and found me. Should I be concerned? I have 25 chickens and 5 ducks. They all free range 24/7 with my LGD.

First picture is my 4 yrs old mottled houdan. Second picture is my 1 year old mottled houdan’s eyes seem normal.

It could be, but without testing or necropsy it's impossible to tell you for sure. Since you have lost several with the same symptoms I would highly recommend that you have one tested, or necropsied when it passes (assuming you have not done that with a bird yet to get confirmation). That is the only way to know for certain. The Marek's vaccine, like all vaccines, is not always 100% effective. It also does not prevent birds from getting Marek's, it just reduces the mortality by preventing the formation of tumors associated with it.
In my flock, my experience has been that some breeds, or some genetic lines have been more susceptible than others. And for those that did not do well in my flock, others with the same breed said those did well in theirs, so genetic lines can be just as or more important than breed. In my case, I lost all my brahama's, and all the chicks out of them. I don't have houdans or ayamis so no personal experience with those breeds. My fayoumi's and my mixes have done the best. There is a lab in Texas that tests for Marek's with a blood sample from a live bird, I will put a link below if you want to check into that. Otherwise, I would contact your state lab and get particulars on necropsy of the next one you lose, in many states it's very reasonable. Link to labs below as well.
