Hi,
I have a question about Marek vaccine.
I have chickens and chicks but they have never vaccinated with Marek.
Now I am trying to buy 7 chicks from another breeder and all those chicks were Marek Vaccinated.
Is it harmful for my chicks and chickens?
Should I quarantine these vaccinated chicks for certain period, until my chickens and chicks are safe? If so, how long?
So far, I have hatched only eggs, never bought chicks. All my chickens were hatched in my kitchen.
Now I worry if Marek vaccinated chicks can affect my chicks and chickens.
Please give me your thoughts.
Thanks!

Second, Yes-you should be quarantining all birds for 30 days+. Once a chick is vaccinated they should be separated from all birds for 2 weeks so as not to shed the live virus from feather follicles. You can buy the vaccine and have them all vaccinated at the same time ( do not re-do the other chicks that will be) It will not harm the older birds to have it-they are doing studies to see if there is any benefit to vaccinating older birds. If you choose not to vaccinate all at once, just make sure you do NOT handle the vaccinated chicks then your other birds. Do the new chicks the very last for two weeks:)

Thank you very much sonew!!!
I worried because these vaccinated chicks can be harmful to my older and younger ones.
I will put them in a separate chick pen for a month.
Thanks again!
