Marek's and flock question

I my flock is Marek free, 1-2 years old. Maybe I buy a chicken. Would there be any way to know if it's a carrier? I mean you can quaranteen a chicken for 6 weeks, but is that going to assure someone that the chicken doesn't have Marek's?

There is no way that I know of. The only way they test for it is through necropsy, to see the tumors etc... You can however vaccinate older birds too, but no guarantees.....

Mostly when they are are older they have experienced it in nature already, but not always..... it's a gamble

So I guess if you add an adult, there is never any way to know if they carry Marek's?
