Since this is a GREAT thread for posterity, just wanted to update/correct the record that my #2 girl with "EYP" showed via necropsy to have had ovarian cancer, which grew very quickly and metastasized to her digestive system.Kind of reminds me of my girls when they've got a soft/shellless egg. They have looked droopy and absolutely miserable, fearful big eyes, they stand, sometimes with tail pumping compulsively. Then I find the other girls eating a shell-less egg on the ground, and a regular egg just sits on the ground not far away - apparently the normal egg coming behind it pushes it out, and comes out unexpectedly, so they don't go to the nest. By 30 mins after the 2 eggs appear, the girl starts perking up. However, this summer one girl was not able to get the soft egg out - vet X-rayed her - it was stuck high up and now she has EYP.
Now I have not seen a blue comb or greenish poop in those cases, although the latest EYP girl did have some greenish poop at one point, and my previous EYP girl got the very bright green poop near the end. You know they say the greenish poop is largely bile, that the chicken is not digesting food?
