I use a pencil. I have used sharpies before but apparently that not necessarily good for the developing embryo is you're hatching the egg. All my eggs a dated with pencil before I store them.
I use pencil, have received them with sharpie, haven't seen a difference with either.
are you just marking for an incubator? or broody?
I have heard of pencil not working so well with a broody....
markers can be toxic I have heard and crayans can block the poors...?
I put the number of the egg on top < I keep track of the egg on the computer or in a note book by its number, when I set it , what kind of egg it is, what it looked like eatch time I candled it ect>
I also put a good sized X on one side and O on the other for turning purposes.
I used a pencil to mark the "X" and "O" on each side. The man who sent the eggs dated them with a pencil as well. I also numbered the eggs to keep track of whos who.
Thanks guys.
The last time I incubated I did mark with pencil, but it sort of wore off after a while. So I was just curious to see what everyone else did.
