We use a Sharpie all the time on hatching eggs, we just never use an incubator, hens only!!! The only reason we mark the eggs is that other hens lay in the nest box the broodie is in and we only let her hatch one at a time. Our hatch rate has been 100% since we've used this method.

People say I'm getting crankier as I get older. That's not it. I just find I enjoy annoying people a lot more now. Especially younger people.

lol well if i remember rightly this is your first ever hatch....so be greatful if you get 50% to hatch. My first hatch was with quails and I hatched out less than half, but that's because they were shipped eggs that came to me pretty abused

What kind of chicken layed the eggs numbered 35-37. They look two toned white with brownish tint to them. Or are they just dirty. I think they stand out a bit. Just wondering. Im new to some of the egg colors.

when i first started i used them, only prob i had was the chicks came out colored or if to much conensation the ink ran and couldn't read them. they hatched fine and healthy but i only use pen or pencil now.
