I just mindlessly used a sharpie and then thought better of it. My daughter is very excited about hatching a baby so Im glad to hear it doesn't necessarily have a negative affect but I'm also not going to use a sharpie again. I'm more nervous that they come out sickly or disfigured because of the chemical.

I use a black china marker. Also known as a grease pencil. Sort of like a Crayon.
