Martha Stewart Television Show Wants You!

I missed the d'uccle - how did Martha pronounce it??

All she said was "Mille Fleur".....

I thought she said "Dee Uccle." I recorded it so I will watch it again and pay closer attention.

Okay. It's possible I missed it, but I know that I too was curious to see how she would pronounce it, but when I only heard "Mille Fleur" I thought, that's not even the breed!

Oh i missed it. i wanted to see it.

Don't shoot the messenger.

I tivo'ed the Martha Stewart show and liked the attention it gave to keeping chickens. Apparently Martha did a piece titled "Home Grown Eggs- Cant Beat Them" back in 1986.

For a substantially less positive take on back yard chickens, see the article on Slate about backyard chicken keeping being the bogus trend of the week:

It seems the hard data (which the writer is focusing on) does exist to show a growth trend:
- MPC profit growth
- BYC membership growth
- increase in cities passing legislation allowing chicks
- hatchery orders, like McMurray, showing increase in small orders
- Backyad Poultry subscription/sales growth

Methinks the author of the Slate article had a traumatizing experience as a child, perhaps at a petting zoo or local farm? An experience involving a protective rooster, I would wager.

'Cause he sure doesn't have much love for the chicken, eh?

I dunno. I write on one of the largest political blogs on the web and have written pieces about backyard chickens. They always garner positive comments--and this is a crowd that isn't always easy to please. Self-sufficiency is trending more popular, and backyard chickens are often a valuable piece of that puzzle. I just hope that the trend in backyard chicken keeping is a sign of more interest in self-sufficiency, and doesn't burn out like a popular fad. Regardless, I think it can hardly be called "bogus." I haven't seen the Martha Stewart show that is being discussed, but, despite the mistakes, I think it's nice to see some positive "press" for the backyard chicken!

So sad-wanted to watch but we got into a car accident. Someone hit our car_horrible-missed chick day at the feed store and the chicken show. We are all ok-can't say the same for our car.
It's all ok though-got 4 babies today!!!

I keep checking for updates on where to find the show.

I don't think it matters how things were pronounced, not really.

What matters is that it was a positive show with a positive reflection on backyard chicken keepers.
