I am sure someone will have what you are looking for, most of the hens I get off the farms to rehome are older. The one I just got I was told lays pale green eggs but beings she is 3 she may have slowed down. I have read conflicting posts on how much they do slow down and some claim theirs never do but it probably depends on a lot of variables (breed, care, etc) Right now everybody is just getting over molting so they haven't been laying like normal. I got my original 2 from Abby in Annapolis last Nov. She had a very nice selection. There is a buy/sell category here (you've probably seen that) but you may also want to keep an eye on Craigslist, the "Farm and Garden" and the Pet section.

FYI - under the "Farm and Garden" section on the Baltimore craigslist, from Mon 9/29, someone has 3 buff orp pullets for sale for $5 each

Hi, I am in Bowie, just down the road (I think) from Chicken Boo, not far from BirdBoy88, and hi, Patty! If any of you PG/Howard/AA folks ever want to have a meetup, my place is available.

Hi I'm Jenna - just outside Frederick on Braddock Mountain. (formerly of upper Montgomery County and Pasadena)

This is my first post. I'm still dreamin' of chickens but I was given a timber playhouse last weekend that will be modified for chez pullet. With coops plans underway now, the Poultry Research and Development Department is now considering breeds and has submitted a list of names that has been approved (Maggie, Millie, Molly and May).

I work at the UM Extension office here in Fredneck - and so can shoulder tap the small farm agent for info and can hook anyone in Maryland up with their local Extension office/agent.

Welcome Jenna (Chicken Salad). I am in Thurmont MD. Glad you have joined this crazy world of BYC. Let me warn you. It is addicting and you will always want more. So in your plans, plan for expansion.

I heard they lost it. I think basically because they didn't have the 50 ft distance from the back and side boundary. Next time they have a zoning hearing maybe some of the people from this county should go and try to get the reg. changed. I read in Ann Arbor, MI they have passed a reg. that people can keep 4 (?) hens in their backyard. They recently changed the regulations in AA county making it harder here. I am in the process of buying a house in Stewartstown,Pa - 3/4 acre in the AG zone so I won't have to worry about my hens.
