MARYLAND THREAD!

Hi All - I live in Taneytown, Maryland. I will be starting a thread on the Local Laws and Ordinances forum to start the process of requesting the city of Taneytown to allow chickens within city limits. If anyone would like to join in this process, please look out for my post!
Taneytown doesn't allow chickens!?!?!? I believe there is a very large medical (legal) cannabis grow operation there. Seems crazy that such a highly regulated and new industry is allowed in Taneytown but not chickens! Just crazy.
Best of luck in your efforts!

Well they do, but just not within city limits. Basically they have some type of law that says no animal husbandry, but it doesn't include what types. So I think I have a pretty good chance at providing the town wit a lot of information to win them over with chickens.

Hatching eggs from July 6 need setting soon! Unknown what you'll get but here they are. (Not the top 2)

PM me if you are nearby and willing to hatch free chickens. Local to Rt. 2, 50 x 97, 301...

Last call for free assorted hatching eggs. My schedule will not accommodate incubating this month. If no one local is interested they will be repurposed as food.

The dark brown ones have already.

10 left... Incubator ready!

Welcome Aboard, Neighbor! Cecil County, here - We have about 30, including chicks, but we're in the process of downsizing so we can concentrate on our favorite breed - Nankin Bantams. We're prepping for County Fair this weekend. I LOVE Fair Week ... but I absolutely HATE Fair prep!

A follow up on Poultry Day at the Cecil County Fair ... WHAT AN AMAZING DAY!
Forgive me for ranting/raving here, but I am so excited I could just BUST!

:wee

My daughter took 8 chickens to the CCFair: 3 D-Uccles, two Silkies (oncluding Herman, our House Rooster!) and 3 of her critically endangered Nankins. Everybody placed, but her Nannies were ... well. The hen took Open Reserve Grand Champion. One roo took second to his brother in feather-legged bantams (against a whole slew of other FL's, including some gorgeous Silkies!) but the other roo, who happens to be my personal favorite of the flock, took Best Feather Leg bantam, both 4H and Open Grand Champion, Best Overall Chicken and BEST IN SHOW!

OMG, I am So proud of my girl ... and of our Sammy, too, of course! This was only her second show ever, and his first - and there were several hundred birds there. In my book, they are BOTH champions!
:ya:celebrate

Oops - Not feather-legged bantams - CLEAN legged bantams. I was so excited I couldn't think straight! Just thinking back on it gets me excited all over again. I think I'll go out to the coop and celebrate again ... Mealworms for everybody! Ummm ... except me. I think I'll just take my coffee ...
