Masculine pullet or feminine cockerel?

The colour that's starting to come in? I just noticed it myself.

My daughter is going to be soooooo miffed! She prides herself in being able to pick out females from a bunch of unsexed chicks, and out of the four, three are male, lol!!!

Yes. Not just the color, but the shape. Those feathers are narrow and pointy, with a lot of gloss. He will be getting the same on his saddle soon. It really is a pretty bird, with unusual coloring.

Closest I could figure is Blue Mottled?

Looks like a cockerel.
If he was a bit weak, that can slow their development down a bit.

Yes. With gold leakage. Probably the saddles/shoulder will be gold, if those new feathers are any indication.

I had a cockerel that didn't crow at all once. Your little guy is definetly a rooster. But hey, if you live in a neighborhood a quiet rooster usually means no fussy neighbors!

Thankfully (since I currently have... 8 cockerels/roos) I live out in the middle of nowhere!

Yep, he's a slow maturing cockerel - perhaps because of his early problems.

It is 100% a cockerel, just a late bloomer. You can see male specific feathering on his shoulders.

Agreed. He's also smooth rather than frizzled.
