What I mean is my local mash is cracked corn and peas, but the smaller grains like wheat & oats are whole. Added to this is calcium, fish meal, alfalfa meal & vitamins which are powdery. I have used mash form Nature's Best Organic & you are right, that was like ground up pellets all powdery & one color, no grains visible. So I suppose it depends on what you get. I've seen pictures of mash like Scratch & Peck & that looks like it has more whole grains than mine. I really like the consistency of my feed and have no problem with the girls eating it. They do pick out their favorite grains, but If you do not fill the feeder too fast, they will eat the rest too. Hope this helps.A BYCer posted this. Is this "mash" w/ whole grains added?
