Mass death

I read the thread. It was interesting. It sounds like he lives in the perfect climate to hatch eggs without adding water but everyone does not have that luxury. I can understand if your humidity stays at 50% in your incubator without adding water it should work fine. So it's really not dry incubatio it's don't add water unless needed to get your humidity to 50%. He also talked about getting humidity right in the incubator room. It looks to me like it would be easier to put water in the incubator than a humidifier in the room. Am i missing something? I am always trying to learn.

I used dry incubation twice. Once was intentionally in a hovabator. I had about 25% hatch. The second time was in in an olllld cabinent bator that I couldnt get the humidity above 30%. 3 of 45 eggs hatched. I'm done with dry incubation! Running between 50-60% I had 100% hatch rate out of those that developed in this last hatch of shipped blue orpingtons. I would consider conforming to the norm and raising your humidity.

I had the same thing happen. I had 41 eggs to start. 12 were alive on day 18 when I set them. I had a few unknowns because I couldn't see in the eggs. The ones I could see in, died. The unknowns didn't hatch until day 23 and I had to help them because the shells were very dry and weird. I have 4. 4 out of 41. If you see anything that may be helpful with this, please let me know.

It was very sad and disappointing to have all those dead chicks. Very Sad.

Well i had 7 out of 11 hatch yesterday 2 were not right we had our first deformed chick he had one eye and a crocked beak and his head was in larged so we had to put him down . Then one hatched with its yolk still not absorbed and he just did not make it. The others are fluffing up in brooder. I hear two more chicks chirping in there eggs. There are 4 in the hatchery now. I had to remove those four and stick them in the other bator for a few mins. The one that hatched with yolk had bled out all in the bator and it smelt so bad. It was every where so i quickly had hubby take the mesh and give it a power wash and i cleanded the tray. They are back in there humidity is up to 55 . The other bator is so full LOL racks are saging but are fine. I decided since i had those at the 35 to 40 humidity now for 14 days not to up it to much afraid i will throw them into shock . I think the bottom line is you have to do a few hatches and find what works for you. If these other 4 hatch that would be 100% hatch at humidity of 55% so we shall see. I appreciate all the advice and information. Thank you all
