One of my Easter Eggers laid a soft egg that broke. Inside was some blood and this mass.

Some background. She had a sinus infection probably about mid August. I helped her through it and vet did give Baytril during that time. No other issues. She's acting completely normal and eating well.

I'm assuming this is some sort of lash egg?

The contents looks like a Follicle, the cross cut is a bit interesting though. Perhaps some wrapped up membrane was incorporated along with the Follicle.

At this point, I wouldn't say that it's Salpingitis at this time. If she's producing good quality eggs now, then I'd just monitor her. Possible this could be repeated, or she may end up with some reproductive difficulties. She had sinus/respiratory infection previously, so depending on the cause, you may see some production issues later on down the road due to the illness.

Then again, it may be a glitch and she's fine from now on. It can be hard to know.

I just looked up another post of yours that showed an educational video on how the yolk is formed from the follicle and I see what you mean.

I'll keep a good eye on her regardless. Thankfully the sinus infection was due to her eating habits (she stuffed her whole head into a bowl of yogurt and then immediately dust bathed to really clog herself up) and not a respiratory infection.
