Material for perches

What is the best material for perches for turkeys? So far I have used 2x4s like I do for chickens. Are these ideal or is an irregular surface like a medium to large tree branch better for their feet?

We use 2x4's laying flat and bigger tree branches 3-4" diam. They just need something wide.

Thanks that eases my mind. I have treated these guys like big chickens requiring more heat and protein the first couple of months. Look healthy and happy but don't want them to suffer for my naive assumptions.
