Matted down fuzz

Hi, my I've been having chicks for over a week now and on the first day when I put water out, in a dish, they all pretty much dove in. I know its late to ask but does matted down fuzz hurt the chicks in any way? Its not on the butt but around the neck and belly, not the wings, should I bathe them? They look healthy but I would like to know

I would leave them alone if they look fine. They will molt out the fuzz eventually as they get feathers in.

Make sure the chicks aren't damp. That's the only risk.

Here's how to help them get their fluff back. Find a shallow tub and fill it with sand or fine soil. Place it in the brooder. The chicks will quickly discover it and dirt bathe the matted down back to good condition, and have a ball in the process. You will also get your first experience with chicken TV. All entertainment should be this cheap.
