Maxed out incubator thermostat. Still not hot enough.

I have a Hovabator 1602 still air incubator. It has held temps just fine until this week. This week it has been all over the board! I have the thermostat turned all the way up (it won't crank any higher) and the bottom of egg temp is 99 and the top of egg temp is 100. I was told it needed to be 102. I am on day 17 today.

The outside air temps have been freakish this week. We had a freak cold front and the house temps are in the mid 60s as opposed to the 70s it has been. Do I need to turn the house heat on? I've had it off and have just been running around in a sweatshirt.

So for the last two nights the incubator temps have dropped down to 100 or so. I've managed to get them back up to 101.5 during the day. Humidity levels have been in the mid 40% range. Am I killing these babies? What do I need to do to fix it?

Bring up your house temps and keep it stable. Those work best in a stable environment.

Check the accuracy of your thermometer.

If you stabilize the house and check the thermometer and they're accurate you may have to replace the thermostat for your bator.

No they probably aren't dead but likely will be delayed and you do have to get a handle on it sooner than later.

Okay, I've turned the house heat on (so these will be the most expensive babies ever!). I think afternoon temps are supposed to be in the high 70s/low 80s so I'll likely have to turn the air on later.. Grrrr. How the heck am I supposed to keep a stable environment when the planet won't cooperate?!

I tested the thermometers before I put them in there. Both are off by a half degree, but I've been allowing for that in my calculations.

The incubator is brand new. This is the first hatch in it. It was holding steady until the planet temps went crazy. I am ready for the consistancy of summer! This spring has been crazy.

I'm just hoping the little suckers aren't dead. As of two days ago everyone seemed alive. We'll see.

my incubator (same model) just started doing the same thing!! i cant get it past 99.5. its really driving me nuts, i think i am gonna have to buy a new wafer. this is only its second hatch...

my old LG is so much better...at least i still have that one
