Good morning all!  Cute photos!!!  Heatherfeather - do they think the chick's leg will get better?

Neither my hatch or the hatch I was doing for Gotro17 did very well.  We have a lot of unhatched eggs.  I stopped at my house last night for a quick check on the eggs and I helped a Lav Orp that was stuck, finish zipping.  I was told it looks good today.  That was the last chick to hatch.  I won't be home again until tomorrow, so I'll eggtopsy everything then. 

These were all shipped eggs.  Half the eggs started in a Brinsea, the other half in a Hovabator.  The Brinsea eggs did MUCH better than the Hovabator.  I'll have to do a full tally once I get home.

@Sally Sunshine I guess I'll have to break out my good camera for all these photo contests you have... Hoping my camera software is still downloaded on my computer lol.

Edit: as far as my hatch currently, at 7/8 out. #8 is pipped and working on elongating that pip as I left for work.

We have our first batch of eggs in the incubator, set on May 7th. Candled last night and most are definitely developing. The ones I couldn't tell with were darker shells. We have seven Lavender Orpingtons, seven Russian Orloffs, four French Black Copper Marans, and six mixed Easter Egger/Barred Rock/Australorp.

Hi there! I just hatched out 3 lil australorps out of 6 that I set in 4/17 and am cleaning out my homemade incubator to set a dozen more! Prayers that this batch does at least as well as the last!

I'm so totally excited that this incubator worked, I wanna set a batch as soon as a batch comes out, lol. Anyone else feel the same? lol ... I've been raising chickens for 6 years now as an adult and we had chickens most of my childhood, but we never incubated our own eggs. We just bought chicks from the co-op or pet store before, but man this is so much more rewarding.

Thank you, I'm very excited. It just externally pipped!!! As long as I leave it alone, it should be just fine, and I might even get to see it hatch! Woo Hoo!!!!!!

@weegarden oh those are so cute look to be a little darker then my two silvery ones. I have one that is a funny brownish color partridge maybe? Do silkies even come in that color? Lol

Thank you so much. They will either be blue or splash, but I think they will be a nice blue, because of mom and dad. They should be nice show quality.

Only the 1 pip but lots of rocking and rolling and noise from the 12 eggs that are the second part of my staggered hatch.
