that is how i do it and if they get to hot they will move out from under the light

Yes do it directly below the lamp. Make sure that you also provide a cool spot where they can get away from the heat.

My bator is loaded! day 4 now! There is life in most of my chocolate Ameraucana eggs and some hint of life in the Orp and Barnie eggs, but they are darker shelled so I with hold judgment on them.

x2, and for the cool spot, it needs to be at least 10 to 20 degrees cooler. You don't want to slow roast your chickens just yet...
