MAY 2016 "Land of the Free Because of the brave!" Hatch-a-Long Hosted by, Mike & Sally

So today I go to feed everyone and I fine my smallest chocolate 4 week old (size of a 2 week old) is rolling around to get to food and water! I realize that her legs shoot out in front of her and she can't move. This happened right after I decided it would be a good idea to move her in with the younger chicks because of her size.So I have to splint her legs she is now in a cup hopefully there will be some improvement. I am going to give her some electrolytes because she seems drained.

Thanks for the pictures @Sally Sunshine

Good morning, everyone!

We have six hatched, two pipped, two zipping, five still unpipped. Day 21 ends at noon. We're warming up the brooder and will move the drier chicks later this morning. The relative humidity outside here right now is 89% We have the windows open without the AC on, so humidity loss is unlikely.
Yayyy!!!

Is this a blood ring? Day 6 - lavender Orpington

Today is day 19 for my broody game hen. she is sitting on bantam eggs (duccles, ee's, and games) and 2 nn crosses. when I was feeding everyone this morning I thought I heard her clucking, so I went over and took a look. Sure enough, She's got chicks under her, 2 days early.

Woohooo!!!
thats great!

I am thinking that it might be wry neck. The chicks legs appear fine but she flops around and can't hold her head up very well. I made a cocoon type thing to support her head and neck and have been giving her little drops of an electrolyte vitamin mix I have and plan on giving her drops of egg yolk. Will this help wry neck?

Hey everyone! I have a quick question about this little duck egg. He's been pipped since yesterday early morning (6am). I noticed a line of pips this morning but nothing since. Is this suppose to be a zip? Or is it just making the pip bigger?

Eta-- he's very active and doesnt sound stress
