May 2020 Hatch-A-Long

Someone told me that rose combed breeds have trouble with fertility. Maybe that's true of cushion combs as well. I do know that all the "alt" close-to-the-head comb styles are dominant over the single, V, etc. styles. Hatcheries and breeders throw in a single when fertility seems to be suffering. Soooo, you can by chance get just that rare combination that will express the recessive single-comb trait.
My Rose comb do not have this issue. 😁

And somehow it is hatch day again already 😳. Time is flying by. So far one speckled sussex out, and one CCL nearly out. I can't wait for it to fluff up so I can see if it's a boy or a girl! My first guess is girl. One partridge cochin working on zipping, and one more CCL pipped and lots more wiggling. No action on my broody Judy's eggs.
You have me still saying Broody Judy. I thought my Cochin was going broody so I was calling her that, but just turns out she is a crank. She made this awful growling noise and it made me laugh.
