May 2020 Hatch-A-Long

24 eggs made it to lockdown, and 10 chicks hatched. I know that is not a great hatch rate, but this is my second time incubating and I am very happy. 🙂 I had to help the last one hatch, and it is now in the brooder and doing fine. I got some cute chicks; some have feathered feet, some have beards, and some have both. 🥰 I'll post pictures of the baby chicks later.

this is the avatar's baby I was waiting for! I was having a dream last night that I was playing with a calf, and I named her Nell. Then woke at 4 am and the chick was out of her shell. My husband wanted to name her Frost yesterday if she came out blue, but I am going to name this one Nell.
This chick is a good example of never give up on a hen, the mom had to be at least 8. If not more, and I had given up on her ever being a mom again. Also she was never much of an egg layer, we struck while the iron was hot. (I started with 4 eggs, 1 didn't make it, the others 2 are due on the 31st) I do have another little chick from my other hatch she can play with.

On the topic of chickens we want vs have:

What I want:
I WANT THEM ALL!!!!!
