Not done yet I'm really hoping I got enough shingles left to do the roof but at least it's water tight for now.

Holy smokes! That is just adorable! Hmmm I might have enough scraps lying around to build one of those!!! Now all I need is a broody hen. :wee

Experimenting with the Cemani’s first week of eggs. She just started laying last week they are tiny, but they’re fertile. So put 3 from the fridge into the bator. 1 egg from the hen that has the yolk separated (just want to see if it will hatch). 1 egg from our older black hen. No clue what she is, or her rooster for that matter.

Not sure how, but I got a notification from eBay that someone (hehe) purchased 6+ rare breed potluck eggs. Fingers crossed for more Deatherlayers or Liege Fighters :fl

Figured what the heck? Last incubator load for the year. Might as well go out with a bang. Or a cluck? Peep? Gobble?

After having 40+ in the brooder at the beginning of March, not doing that again. Way too many stinky chims. Now dealing with fat, messy Pekin ducklings and Khakis.

And the last one is finally zipping! :wee

Wheee! We must have pictures of them all fluffed.

I'm getting impatient myself. And it's only day 15. Husband and I are currently discussing rooster issues...I either need to put one or both in the freezer (or find them new flocks, which is unlikely). BokBok prefers to spend his day patrolling outside the coop while little BokBok Junior happily stays in with the ladies, which causes some disagreement when big BokBok returns to roost. :rant They left each other looking a little haggard yesterday. I knew I should've dealt with this when we butchered the other cockerels - junior only missed the block because he escaped me and I couldn't catch him for about a week.

Sadly I am now a bit attached to big BokBok even if he can be an asshat sometimes.

I too have had troubles with roosters. Last "man" standing is a Buckeye who hates me, but wouldn't you know it, he's gentle and solicitous to the girls. Unfortunately he's brutal to other roosters and I do need more than one boy. I know I'll eventually have to make chicken and dumplin's but for now, he's it. Not sure he can cover all these hens but we'll see how he's been doing soon enough when I get the incubator cleaned up. A couple-three rose-comb cockerels and he's gonna be soup. :drool
