May 2020 Hatch-A-Long

Pics
Hey everyone!!:frow Figured I'd join it too. This is my first time trying to hatch eggs. Built a new mini broody coop and finished it the day the eggs arrived. I've got a broody bantam Cochin who's sitting on 9 eggs right now. 3 are porcelain bantam Cochin and 6 mille fleur bantam Cochin, I ordered offline. I put them under her Saturday night at like 2 am after they sat for at least 12 hours after being shipped. Unfortunately, because of this whole covid thing I didn't pick them up from the post office but I'm trying to be hopeful. I have yet to candle them but I think I will tomorrow night.

I like your broody setup!

My wandering eggs just finally got here today. I went and got them from the post office because I was pretty sure they didn’t need any more hours of shaking up in the back of the truck.

it looks like I have a couple of detached air cells and I will have many saddled aircells. I am not super hopeful for a good hatch as it took 6 days for a 3 day express package. So it had three more days of cold and traveling than I like.

yesterday I also set 6 Cayuga duck eggs and 5 more chicken eggs for my friend.

Hatching is my thing to do while out of work it seems.

My first batch of black East Indie Duck eggs is looking right on time for a May 4th hatch.

Thank you! I'll get a full pic of it when I get home from work. It's a cute little coop for a first time mama. Nothing too elaborate right now because we just used the left over lumber we had laying around the yard. Can't even go to stores right now because of the virus. I drove passed home depot the other day and I guess because they are only letting a certain number of people in the line was wrapped around the building. I just drove away. Thankfully we saved a lot of scraps from when we redid the house and built the main run so nothing too fancy right now but when things get back to normal I'll make it pretty.

Let them sit overnight pointed side down. It'll help a little bit. The air cells will settle.
