I put 24 eggs from my flock in the incubator this morning. I have a Bielefelder rooster and an Easter Egger/Plymouth Rock cockerel and Light Brahma, Austa White, Buckeye, and New Hampshire Red hens. I am excited to see what these crosses will look like!

Sooo my shipped runner eggs arrived intact for the most part, I let them rest overnight and set them 24 hours later. (Last night.) I candled them prior to setting them, 5/6 had jiggly air cells when they arrived but those seem to have firmed up, with varying degrees of saddling. The 6th egg has a detached air cell that I’m not going to fuss with, it went in anyways. 🤷🏼‍♀️ It’s the least desirable looking egg to start with, small and extremely round, so I’m not too worried about it. I’m using a Janoel 12 incubator so the eggs go on their sides and are rolled for turning. I’m assuming the detached air cell egg won’t make it, but anyone else have an egg they’ve set for the heck of it like this one? :)

I set a detached air cell duck egg and it actually hatched. I had it on its side too. The air cell settled after a while.
