May 2020 Hatch-A-Long

I checked the Peachicks this morning. Hatch day is tomorrow. The air cells are drawn down and huge on the two good looking air cell eggs, possibly internally pipped but I couldn't tell for sure. Side air cell egg is still showing movement but no change in air cell size or placement so still not sure how I'm going to deal with that one. I may end up needing to do a full assisted hatch tomorrow if I don't feel like it can internally pip on its own by the time the other two externally pip...I'm really hoping it works it out in it's own though! :fl

Two lovely sweet docile hens that now look at me like I'm filth if I go anywhere near them 🙄
They are so unappreciative

Day 16 for set 1. Half of my eggs are rocking :D

What do you think, folks? An early hatch for some silkie bantams? Should I lock down today?

Candled this morning and they all look fine - movement is good. Air cells slightly bigger than they should be but only a percent or so :D

As they get larger you're more able to see the rocking from the chicks movement. They might not hatch early but there's no harm in putting them in early lockdown. You may want to wait until you see the air cell drawing down early, pips, or day 18/19 before increasing the humidity. Base increasing the lockdown humidity on how your air cells look. I often stop turning my eggs a day or two early but I won't increase humidity to 65% unless I see internal pips or the air cells are large. Good luck on your hatch!

Day 21 here and no signs of anything. Nothing is moving, no pips. I’m worried I somehow killed them all. They were alive when we went into lockdown at day 18.......
I’m worried.
I know we can just try again if these ones don’t hatch. I think the temp was a little low during incubation so maybe they’re just later.....?
