May 2020 Hatch-A-Long

The two poults that made it are having a bit of trouble. One leans and falls to the left, the other can’t peep! You can see it making the motions and sometimes a tiny noise comes out, but it’s pretty much mute 95% of the time. So weird...

Vitamin b complex good idea to boost a little in some water? They both hatched yesterday evening.
The vitamins won't hurt, maybe try some apple cider vinegar in the water as well?:)

Get nutri drench. I’d add some acv to waterer to. It’s 1 TBS per gallon. I give it to all my newborns just to prevent pasty butt and help boost them a bit.

For the weeble wobble put it in a cup with some shelf liner, it may just be week on one side. Putting them in a cup gives them physical therapy.

Thanks! Hope these little things pull through. They are so weak compared to chicks. Very surprised at the difference. Is this normal though? Holy cow I feel like a noob at the moment lol
All chicks or birds have different ways of hatching. Ducks are slow to rebound too. Quail are out and ready to paint the town red.

Are you on the east coast?

I just checked the maran eggs and I have internal pips
No. I am in Hawaii! The marans are from a local breeder, but they still shipped overnight and 3 of the 9 eggs have saddles.
The breeder recommended dry incubation, a little tricky here, and not adding any water until they pip.
Cant' wait to hear how yours progress! Keep us posted. I still have 8 days to go for mine!:)

Mine are black coppers and blues. I’m hoping at least 6 make it. I have 11 eggs. One looked like an early quitter, but I can’t see through the shell. I love these dark eggs but they are a pain when candling sometimes.
