We've got coyotes here too....tons of them! We have to fight them every calving season as they try and get the newborn calves. We have even had them gang up and take down a 3 month old calf. Getting to be a lot of Mountain Lion sightings in the area, lots of farmers carrying guns to go fix pivot tires once the corn gets tall. You can't see anything in a tall green corn field, so would be easy to have one sneak up on you. I have friends in Northern Nebraska that said that they have heard wolves howling and a there have been a couple reported sightings of wolves in the state....but Game and Parks is denying that they may be here. They are still denying that Mountain Lions are in our area, even though people have caught them on game camera. And what else would they be tracking in their pickup with all the antennas on it???....chipped predators that have been released in the area???
Well if they aren't there you can't be fined for helping that be true, if you know what I mean. Around here, at least fish and game doesn't play like that.

And here are the orloff/easter eggers/olive egger/sussex/orpington/legbar/ameracaunas/marans some big white rooster and i think a polish was in there too lol

Completely know what you mean. The things game and parks has come up with to hide the fact that the mountain lions are here are ridiculous too! Anything from "it is just a large domesticated barn cat" to "nope, those would be coyote tracks".....really doesn't give people a reason to trust them or think they are competent enough for the job. At the same time, they are promoting Mountain Lion license plates at a huge discount to other plate styles so that they can fund building new recreation areas in the Eastern part of the state. They just built a multi million dollar recreation area 2 years ago off of plate sales.

One of my daughters Svart Hona chicks had something like that after it hatched. I just kept putting antibacterial ointment on it. It did eventually go away and that chick is doing well - wouldn't be able to tell anything was wrong with it.
That’s relieving to hear. I just keep treating it as I have been.

View attachment 2156081will they be warm enough with two glass containers full of boiling water in a sock and a hot water bottle?
What's the temp in the room? Can you give them a wrapped heating pad (no auto-off)? Otherwise you'll need to keep replacing the water bottles, etc. as they cool.
