May 2020 Hatch-A-Long

Yes it’s a coffee cup though it’s a little narrower in the bottom than a regular coffee cup I think. I put some of that grippy shelf liner in the bottom. She has been in there overnight so approximately eight hours now.

Hmmm I’m not sure how to fix it if the cup doesn’t work. @CluckNDoodle you have any ideas?

Are her toes curled funny at all or are they normal? If her toes are not right you may need to put a chick boot on her to fix the toes so that she walks on her feet.
Her toes look fine they don’t really curl, but her left foot her toes go a little bit inward.

Yes, toes do look good. So definitely not that. :) Hopefully she just needs to build more strength is all.
She was an assist, so she didn’t have to push the egg shell so hard with her legs like they normally would.I’m thinking that’s why she’s weak.
Thank you and you @kelseyk and @FortCluck
for your help!:love

OK so day 24 and we gave up. Have opened up all 5 eggs and all are gone. I'm heartbroken. I'm going to start a thread with images so if you would be kind enough to respond with your thoughts on what happened I'd appreciate it massively. I can't cope with not knowing why this happened and I really want to try again. Thanks so much

Update on the crushed egg chick: It's been one stressful week of up and downs for this little cutie. His/her abdomen opened up again two days in and I could see what was left the yolk sac. Spent 48hrs bandaging it and cleaning it - thankfully it closed up again but the chick showed signs of infection.

I've been feeding it several times a day and it's only half the size of the others, but it's now starting to eat, drink, and socialize more with the other ones. What a roller coaster ride this has been. Lots of signs of improvement over the last few days though!

The crushed egg chick is the little grey one in the middle of the food in this photo.

You can just post them here instead of doing a new thread

Hope it gets better. Probably just has weak legs because it wasn’t pushing. I had a quail like that and it took a week to get better. I put it in the cup and hour on and an hour off for a week. At night I took it out completely.
