She was an assist, so she didn’t have to push the egg shell so hard with her legs like they normally would.I’m thinking that’s why she’s weak.

She looks good in the image you shared but if her leg is shooting out to the side you can always make her a hobble.

Thanks. Images below. I'm in Chester, UK. Eggs were sourced locally so NOT shipped. Temp stayed around 37-39c up until lockdown with humidity at 45-50. After lockdown humidity was kept between 65 and 75 but temp spiked up to 41 for a couple of hours over the last 2/3 days. All were moving going into lockdown on day 18. I was using an HHD mini 24

Update on the crushed egg chick: It's been one stressful week of up and downs for this little cutie. His/her abdomen opened up again two days in and I could see what was left the yolk sac. Spent 48hrs bandaging it and cleaning it - thankfully it closed up again but the chick showed signs of infection.

I've been feeding it several times a day and it's only half the size of the others, but it's now starting to eat, drink, and socialize more with the other ones. What a roller coaster ride this has been. Lots of signs of improvement over the last few days though!

The crushed egg chick is the little grey one in the middle of the food in this photo.

Hope it gets better. Probably just has weak legs because it wasn’t pushing. I had a quail like that and it took a week to get better. I put it in the cup and hour on and an hour off for a week. At night I took it out completely.

Thank you so much! I will do that. Since I’m home I can manage any kind of interventions needed. She is a little sweetie of course I decided that she is a she because I want to keep her now!

Thank you, her leg is not really shooting out to the side, I tried to make a video of her walking but it wouldn’t post. It’s more she doesn’t stand up completely.
Going to try @FortCluck idea of one hour on one hour off in the cup for a few days and see if this helps.
You guys are all so awesome with all your helpful advice, I really appreciate you!

Jms I had 2 with splay legs, I did not hobble and eventually the healed themself.

The only one that has hatched.. it has a belly problem but is looking better.. its feet are also curled I have stuff on them now..

They are fully formed and so much oils have to do with why they didn’t make it.

Malposition, breeding stock, temp in incubator, and so much more. It’s hard to pinpoint what it could have been.

All you can do is try again from a different breeder. If it happens again, I would look more into the incubator and turning.

The seven Marans are all together now she is in the middle sitting down on the hocks.

Wonder if putting some type of splint on each leg would work to straighten them. Like a short popsicle stick so she is forced to be on her feet. I would do this but as a last measure if she doesn’t improve with cup therapy.

Are you putting the cup in with the other chicks so that she can hear them and she tries to push herself up over the edge so she can see them?

So today is day 23. I got 12/29 hatched with 2 more that died during zip. Not sure why. They all hatched on day 20/21.Will do eggtopsy tonight to see what went wrong. I just know it was my old junky incubator. I couldn’t believe I actually got 12 good chicks. Last time I only got 3. Thank goodness I have 2 other good incubators.
