May 2022 hatch along

So far so good with my hatch. I was wrong about the number of eggs developing in my incubator; looks like at least 5 out of 7. The veining is not great though so we’ll see what happens. The broodies still have 8 eggs and they are doing fine. Day 12 here so looking forward to a hatch on May 9.

So I have eggs due to hatch on Monday, then Saturday, and then more on the 13th! It seems that the loss of power hasn’t really affected the eggs much thank goodness!!

Plus I have a broody bunch (3 bantam Cochins) sitting on 7 eggs they hid from me that seem to be in the home stretch…I just have no clue how soon! The broody bunch stole 7 of the big chicken eggs, and they’re a mix of breeds! Two are marans/Ameraucana crosses, two are English Orp/Ameraucana cross, two are mauve splash Orpington/Ameraucana cross and one might be a GLW/Ameraucana cross! There’s also a chance at a frizzle! So it’s quite the batch!

So by the end of May I will have hatched Olandsk Dwarfs, d’Anvers, Coturnix, and a bunch of green and olive eggers! Bit of a mixed bag

Yay! I’m glad they seem to have survived the temp dip. I had a hatch a few years ago where the power went out 3 times. I thought it would not turn out well but I had over 90% hatch rate. Hope yours turns out well too

I am on day 12. I think only 1 in the incubator is still going and last I checked under my broody I think there were 2 for sure and 2 others I wasn't sure about, then 2 duds. Hoping I end up with at least 3 chicks from this!!!!

my twelve local eggs from a store are on day 7, I also have another two dozen eggs, from the same farm day 6. No clears.

I don’t I’m on day 4 now. Not sure cause I’m tired and my brain won’t do math. I candled today and can see growth in at least one egg. It was #7 I think. One of the green eggs is so dark I don’t think I’ll be able to tell anything even on day 14 or later.
I’ve had trouble with the hen constantly leaving the nest during the day so I’m not sure whether these will end up making it to hatch or not....

Setting 180 eggs tomorrow for a hatch date of May 3rd.

It’s May 2nd! Are all your eggs in a Hatcher? Are you keeping your breeds in separate trays?

Last month I hatched 15, and bought 5. Of the 20 five are boys. I moved them to a separate pen, because the boys are bigger, and Zoom-ier.

Of the 15 girls, I am holding 4 for a chicken friend.

Hi from Ontario, Canada! I thought my April Hatch-A-Long was it for me this year. I ended up with 5 goslings, a duckling and 13 different chicks. That should have been the end of it and then one of my hens went broody for the first time! She is currently sitting on 8 silkie eggs which are on day 3 today. Fingers crossed she makes it through, yesterday she got up for a snack and went back to the wrong box! Silkies weren't my preferred breed, but they were the only thing immediately available (I don't currently have a rooster). All exciting!

Hey everyone! I have 6 eggs that are supposed to hatch around the 11th. They are my barn yard mix. Brahman Bantam/ Cuckoo maran/English Orpington. Curious to see what coloring they will have.
