Yay for all the hatching going on :) lots of challenges too. I really want to have a broody (hoping on my aseel) but oh it makes me nervous to think of being so hands off.

I went into lockdown for my 10 this morning. I also put my 7 week olds out in the coop in a kennel with the bigs. Little worried about them and of course my girls knocked the camera down….went and fixed it and they knocked it down again.
Bigs are NOT happy with the newbies. Changed sleeping spots and grumbles.
My buff orp and Polish are the bullies.

Pictures from the wifi cam because they are hilarious and I have no fun hatching going on yet lol

Day 3-4 for my 41 eggs. I put 29 in my NR360 and 12 in my Kebonnix. So 41 eggs total. I am keeping the 8 silkies, at least until their genders can be figured out (would like to keep a trio from them), and the rest are for a customer. Candled tonight. FORTY are fertile, including all 8 Silkie eggs! Looks like I’ll be hand-turning in the 360 for awhile!

Customer wanted as many as possible, so I double-stacked all that I could fit!

Going to candle the eggs in my classroom tomorrow when the kids are at lunch. (Day 3), hoping I can see something so when they come back after recess I can show them!

So, I am an impatient person and will not be in office on Sunday when it’s day 15 when I would normally candle them right before lockdown. So I did it tonight. One that I thought was a potential quitter turned out to be awesome! Seven out of 12 look like they will be going into lockdown on Monday. I removed the bad ones and cracked them to see. Only one was actually fertilized. The rest were just raw. A bit of a bummer but we shall see!

35 slides on this thread as of right now and I just set 35 eggs in the incubator a second ago... didn't know this had 35 I swear. (Will probably change once I post this)
Now, why did i set 35? Don't really know, just upset about the last eggs and figured I'll get more chicks if there's more eggs? 😅. 12 of the eggs are from a private breeder. 23 (if i did the math right) are from my hens.
The 12 eggs include 4 splash cochin, 1 cream legbar, 2 olive egger/cream legbar, 2 ee, 1 speckled ameraucana/ee mix, and 2 bcm.
The 23 are all bym, but I know incude 4 buff brahma hen eggs, 9 creme penedesenca hen eggs, 2 light brahma hen eggs, and either 8 of some ameraucana, legbar, or ee hen eggs.
Oh can't wait to see the chicks from the breeeder. I am a HUGE fan of splash Cochins! LOL and CCL. and the mix sound cool! Yours sound like they will be interesting as well!

I have some CCL and some ice cream bar (CCL and Isbar mix) eggs right now. :)

GL with your hatch!

This is why I LOVE brooding in my coop!!!!! My babies are 6.5 weeks (well guess they will be 7 weeks tomorrow) and 4 weeks tomorrow and were put in the coop around a week old I think for the older ones and a few days for the younger batch. I have chick doors in my brooder so the babies can get in and out but big ones can't. So opened those last weekend and they have been causing hell in the coop ever since. the big ones don't even care. they may chase here and there but instantly stop and don't hurt them at all. hopefully in the next couple weeks the babies will stop going in there to sleep and start sleeping out in the coop or up on the roost and I can get it set up for the next set of chicks since I am now not giving them to my broody so have 5 chicks I need to have inside in my brooder until I can put them outside....

forgot to mention the crested part, based off the photos of the parents i do believe they will be crested as well. I have two crested legbar hens, wanted another one and actually hoping the one purebred egg i have in the incubator will hatch and is a male lol. I don't yet have splash cochins, but I've wanted some so I asked for a couple of the eggs. Only splash i have is Pebbles (The silkie mother from the last hatch) and two splash marans who are around 3/4 weeks old.
