MAY HATCH-A-LONG come join in

Orpingtons are my favorites. They are big and fluffy and strong. Yes, they do stretch out and zonk out in a very lazy manner. I am so glad you are happy with them. Wheeler is a beautiful rooster. I think he is even more beautiful than his father, Mosby, was. Both very striking boys!

I've lost count as to how many have hatched/pipped. I do have an egg carton that all have hatched except 3 and two of those have pipped. My one FBCM has pipped! Super excited about that!

I will have to wait until everyone is done then get a proper head count and pics to share!

I'm no the most experienced hatcher but maybe it was the umbilical cord? Is it still alive? If so you need to separate it otherwise the other chicks WILL peck at it and end up killing it.

Yes, he's still alive. Great, so there's hope!

Also, I've heard of people putting a bandaid over the spot. If you could post a pic it would be helpful for us to try and figure out what is wrong and try and figure out how to help.

Well I have one olive egger out and one in the process of zipping. I haven't seen any movement in the Cochin egg for a while so it may have died. I have 4 that have pipped but aren't doing anything right now. Hopefully they will get busy soon.

I have a question. Yesterday the embryo to one of my duck eggs was moving around and seemed fine, but today the embryo is gone and a big dark disk is in its place. What does that mean? Is it dead?

Egg_newton: I can't find him right now. For some newborns, they sure move really fast and love to crawl all over the place. lol

I just dragged myself to the shower (hadn't taken one all day) since dh will be home soon. I was kinda upset because I still only had 10 hatched and one that pipped a long time ago, but hadn't budged since. Came on here to complain when I look in and see that one more hatched so now I have 11. Woohoo!

And now there are three more that pipped.

My last count is:
8 Ameraucaunas hatched and 2 Piped and 1 zipping
3 EEs hatched and 2 pip 1 zipping
None of my BCMs, but again they didn't go in until 12 hours after these. I'm expecting to start seeing them pip sometime tonight or tomorrow morning.

This is ALMOST as exciting as giving birth. I am going

Hmmm....I'm not sure, but I'd be interested to know the answer to this also. I pray everything is OK and that is just part of the process.

I pray that he's fine also. Out of all my eggs it had to be my little brothers.

So now I just sit at the computer to try to find an answer.
