I just candled before lockdown and am happy to report, 2 Lavender Orpingtons, 4 BBS Orpingtons, 7 LF Lavender Ameraucana and 3 Bantam Lavender Ameraucana have made it thus far! Was a tad disappointed in my bantams. I had a dozen to start. One was clear, 8 of them had blood rings.

I got them local too, so not sure what happened to them. But I'm happy with what seems to be doing well so far!

EEEEEEEeeeee !!!!! I am SOO excited I cannot stop grinning!!! We have a pip and a very vocal little chick looking to hatch soon!!!! Our Very first pip Ever!!!! YAY for me and our broody hen and our little baby chick!!! I will take pictures tomorrow of our new baby. I cannot believe it is finally happening. Fingers crossed it is a healthy little one that hatches. When I checked on mama tonight she was totally asleep for the first time in ages(at least that I have seen). She had her head tucked under a part of her wing and had this sort of calmness about her that I haven't seen in a while. I'm so proud of her. Thanks for letting me share this momentous occasion with you all, you are the only ones who actually understand my excitement. Thank You!!!

ok for starters i have very weird cat, if the chickens or chicks make weird noises he comes and gets me... Well in this case one of my 2 remaining duck eggs just piped 4 days early and i got pounced on until i got up. All i can say is WOW, someone could have mentioned ducks have an odor all their own when they start to hatch lol. Too bad i goto work in about 5 hours.

ok, I am a bit nervous now. Incubator is on lock down, everything has stayed the right temp and humidity. It is now day 20, I usually have pips and peeping by now, even a chick or two. This time, nothing! I am getting a bad feeling about these eggs, and I can't figure out why. I had taken out the clear eggs, the only ones in there were developing.

I'm feeling good about my 2 little eggs going into lockdown for my 5/29 hatch. Come on Polish!

My next hatch date is June 1 and I'm gonna get 100%!

My bad streak is going to be over!

Candled earlier this morning and my 2 eggs now have blood rings.

Next hatch is on the 1st.

I'm going to keep track of all you others though so GOOD LUCK Chickie Mamas and Chickie Daddies!!

Well another surprising day. I thought for sure those last few eggs weren't going to do anything. I got home last night and another chick and a pip this morning. So that brings my count to 11 with one egg left to hatch. mom is doing a good job. All chicks look nice and plump and strong and as far as I can tell everyone is eating and drinking on their own.

My hatch is done...I have a total of 28 babies out of 42 eggs. Thanks so much to Katy for the wonderful eggs!!!! Love em!!!

so went to take eggs out of turner for lock down 3 had pips ughh i guess I was off on my dates. I hope laying them dwn out of turner does not mess them up.
