I’ve just left them on so far so I don’t have to run around chasing them every morning to put them back in lol. They did good even in the rain. They were a little damp but dried super quick once the rain stopped.

Thanks he is a very good rooster I’m gonna get me a couple of those saddles I hope my hens like them thanks for all your help

So i got a farm innovators inc. incubator. Forced air egg turner the whole 9 yards. I double checked everything (temp, humidity, you name it) best I could with what i had at home. It's been stable the whole time. That's not my issue. So i was diligent double checking before start and making sure everything stayed stable but i forgot to watch for air cell growth. We just past 14 days and my air cells look like day 7. Thing is I'm doing everything short of removing the eggs the drying the bator but i can't get the humidity to drop. I was keeping it between 50-60 like the packaging recommend but the past week I've been trying to get it down and can't keep it below 50. I haven't added water in at least 5 days. Just before fighting to get the humidity down i had one day where the weather was hot an dry and my humidity tanked to like 28, but most of the time it's been cool and wet so I'm guessing at this piont its not so much the moisture in the bator but the moisture in the air it's self that I'm having to fight? Anyways so I'm what 7 days from hatch? What do i do if the air cells are to small? Do i need to watch for internal pips and then make an external for them to make sure they have enough air? Can i wait till the first external pip before increasing to hatch humidity? Do i need to just cross my fingers and wait?

There are 13 eggs 11 standard with 1 possibly dead, most i can see movement, all tan brown or green eggs, 2 are too dark or thick to observe beyound aircell and estimated growth. And 2 bantam sebrights, there where 6 but 3 infertile and 1 blood ring at 7 days with no further development, I removed those today so they make it out with the trash and not sitting for a week in the can.

I'm just sorta stuck right now. It's my first incubation and I don't expect all to make it, but I know i messed this part up and i want the chicks to have a fair shot. I was really looking forward to the diversity in this hatch becuase they are a mixed feed store flock of all sorts of colors and a Heritage Lavender Orpington roo. And of course it's my first time hatching my own eggs (or any eggs if you don't count the 2 fertile eggs we got for a broody hen last year)

The same thing happened to me with my last hatch so I tried to get the humidity down. (The air cells were small). I am using a Little Giant incubator. I am also new to hatching eggs what I call manually. I set 36 eggs , 28 made it to lock down what happened was everything started to dry out 25 hatched and I lost 3 had to assist 10
This time I am keeping the Humidity where it should be and hoping for the best
Hatch day is Friday 34 eggs.

thanks i think he is a cochin but im not really sure what breed he is but i love him so much i also love his colors he loves to keep the hens safe

2 pairs of sisters? Can you tell what sex they are by color?

I just read your question again and now I get what you’re asking. I was still waking up when I replied earlier lol. I say “sisters” but I have no idea really. I’m calling them all girls just being hopeful haha!

I had the exact same issue bc I was going by the package recommendation which you should never do. I removed all water from the incubator and let it run dry. We’re in the middle of spring rains so the relative humidity is high. I recandled right around day 19 or 20 I believe and the air cells were perfect. I added a few tablespoons of water and my hatch went great. Once the chicks started coming out the humidity shot way up. I left the lid down, except to quickly pull out a damp sponge I had originally put in to help...but the chicks kept climbing all over it after they hatched so it was more trouble than help.

I was afraid the last time that the humidity would get too high and the chicks would drawn in the shell. I have heard of dry hatching and would like to give that a try.

EDIT to add: My bantam eggs all hatch fine I was have trouble with my standard eggs

It’s been nuts. Our outdoor humidity was running 60-80% when hatching started. I was kind of nervous lol! I’m grateful for the rain, but then I’m like, ok....that’s enough for right now.
We’re moving out to Lassen County right now and we’ll be at a higher elevation. Praying fire season isn’t so bad this year.
