That's the same way i remove the lid most of the time, but I've been tipping to help release the humidity. It heats back up quickly. Today was a little warmer and I realized owning the too vents might help so we did that and the humidity is not at 31%. I'm going to try to keep it about the these last few days becuase the 2 bantam eggs made thier growth already and i don't want to expand then to much.That's the same incubator I have. It's was a bit fiddly to dial in but still a good buy.
Personally I'd remove the eggs, turner and wipe out the bottom. Run dry as long as you can. The air cells grow quickly so you should be alright.
When I have to remove the top I set it on the ground in the same orientation it's usually in. This keeps the warm air in it and it stabilizes faster. Don't tip it up and lean it on its side somewhere. Hope this help. Can't wait to see your hatch.
