I just went in to check on my egg and I heard peep,peep,peep hatch day is supposed to be Friday

Its only 1 day. My very first egg with a broody mama hatch a day early

Very cool! I've always liked heritage breeds. Where did your stock come from? What's your overall impression of them?

That's exciting! It very well may be. The peeping means it's interally pipped. Internal to external pip can be 24 hours. External pip to zip can be another 24. That said the loud ones seem very motivated and get the job done sooner rather than later.

My air cells looked small on lock down. Where this little one pipped looks about correct. Now humidity, I opened it to put a little water in it was at 45%. (I opened before I heard the peeping) I hope they don't drawn or dry out.

They went on lockdown yesterday. We candled to look at the air sacs, and we saw movement in two!

I think one is a complete blank, but we're not positive about anything so we don't want to accidentally break open an egg. Our nannycam, was (I think) just delivered by the Amazon Fairy. Hope to have a few new chickies this weekend!

I got 3 from someone who was rehoming their flock they're mixed with something, I don't know what, their tails are wrong and they have a lot of buff in them. I got a show quality hen and roo from Canada's #1 breeder, Crystal McKinnon.

I have chanteclers too. 2 hens and a roo from a breeder who started her own line here in Alberta. Her line is quite sought after by breeders to keep their lines fresh. Her name is Kathy Stevenson.
