May hatch-a-long

Pics
Candled today and found 4 out of the 12 client eggs needed to be discarded. 3 infertile and 1 died early on. Blood ring and dead dark spot where the air sac should be. So sad. She's got 8 left. I've had to discard 1 of my 30 so far but most are green eggs and I can't see into them well. Hope all of her eggs hatch I feel bad!

OK I'm jumping on the May Hatch-a-Long Train!
I put 24 shipped Canadian Bresse eggs in my incubator 12 days ago. They traveled all the way from British Columbia to me in NE Quebec. In the US that would be the equivalent of LA California to Bangor Maine lol. I should have let them set a full 24 hrs before putting them in my incubator but they were a week later than I had wished and have other breeds in line for the next 3 month following. So They only sat about 10 hours before they went in. I have them point down with no auto tilting at the moment. I candled on day 3 to determine the air cells. I also added some of my own bantam Wyandotte lace wings eggs as long as I was running the machine. One Bresse arrived with a tiny spider crack in it. I saw someone successfully hatch an egg on YouTube is similar shape once by just putting a piece of scotch tape on it. Why not? I haven't got anything to loose! :idunno

Captains Log: Day 6
2 Non fertile Bresse

2 Blood Ring Bresse

2 Questionable Bresse

18 with air cells and veining Bress

11 with air cells and veining Bantam Wyandotte GL

Total 29 viable to hatch 2 maybeys

Captains Log: Day 10
17 viable Bresse 1 with air cell on side (will have to research)

3 duds: 1 non-fertile 2 Blood Ring

11 viable Bantam Wyandotte GL

Total 28 potential Chicks

AND The Scotch Tape Baby is still viable! Cool Huh!:fl

I am tempted to candle again tonight but will be patient and stick to my schedule for day 15.
For shipped eggs I found this post extremely helpful

Welcome to the hatch a long glad to have you join :frow

How many eggs are you hatching and what kind of chickens are hatching out of them:D
Dad is EE. Five EE eggs, and one each of RIR, Partridge Rock, Buff Orpington, and Colombian Wyandotte.

We've got the nannycam set up, so we can watch the eggs. Two of them were rocking yesterday evening, so I think we're about ready to roll - unless there was an earthquake I didn't feel.

I'm so excited. This may be a big weekend, we might also get our bees. Our older (store bought) chicks are in a slightly bigger brooder in our mudroom to make way for the new chickies - still too cold for the garage brooder. So I've got chickens in the mudroom. It will be a happy day when my livestock is all out of my house.

Nervously waiting, tonight we go into lock down. 13 of 17, but I'll candle tonight one last time. Thats 11 standards rooster is a lavender orpington, 5 ee (got one of each) 1 production/Rhode island red, really hoping hers hatched it was her last egg before she passed. And the other 5 I'm not 100% sure who's is whos, backyard mix flock. 2 sebrights, 3 sebright infertile, and 1 sebright blood ring.

My flock is down to 13 girls 1 rooster and 3 guineas and 2 sebright hens, 11 feed store chicks in the garage (about 5 weeks) I need to check temps to see if they can move outside yet, and hopefully a few little hatchlings this week.
