That's so exciting. Remind me again how many duck eggs you've set? One day I'll try turkeys. Maybe next year.

I just set 4 (all that would fit in with the Turkey eggs) I have some people wanting to buy eggs so I wanted to check fertility first.

No. Safety holed should only be done as a last resort. Usually day 22 or later.

70ish is probably your safest bet. Just fill all of your water channels and it should be fine.

so tomorrow is lock down im going to candle tomorrow and add water should i do a safety hole i cant wait to see the colors of my chicks i will be posting photos has soon has they hatch

Deffinatly wait to do safety holes untill you at least have an internal pip. I think the suggested was internal +12hours. Or wait till at least day 21 unless you know one is having trouble.

Well, as this is my first incubation of call ducks... I’ve read they may hatch as early as 26 days or they may come on day 28. I think these eggs are leaning towards 28. 2 of them appear to have positioned themselves with bills at the air cells but no internal pips, all 8 still have live embryos at this point. I am content knowing that! Now to wait a little longer.

Call ducks where one that the asisited hatch info indicated possibly doing safety hole early as they tend to need a little more assistance then other varieties.

I candled last night. Only 3 duds out of 10. Lockdown on Monday. Finally it looks like I'm going to have a hatch! 3 times is the charm
